Vacuum regularly using a vacuum cleaner with HEPA Filter.
Use good quality doormats at all entrances.
Clean heavy traffic areas.
Have carpets professionally cleaned every 12 months.
Have guests remove shoes on entering your house.
Attend to stains immediately.
Keep your kitchen floor clean as grease will be picked up and deposited on your carpet.
Spills
When spills do occur tackle them immediately, using a clean white cloth or paper kitchen towels to sock up the liquid. Don’t add any further liquid like water or as recommended in some cases white wine as it will spread the stain.
It makes good sense to keep a carpet cleaning solution or kit stored in the house as they are designed to tackle the job without harming the carpet. Always check a small area first to ensure is doesn’t affect the colour/dye of the carpet.
